En dévoilant au public, au printemps prochain, le tout nouveau Photography Centre entièrement rénové, le Victoria and Albert Museum de Londres offrira à tous les amoureux de la photographie une collection hors du commun en accès libre
Comme si cela était nécessaire, voici une raison de plus de partir à Londres dès les premiers jours du printemps. Le célèbre et majestueux musée de Cromwell Road sis à Londres, dévoilera la dernière phase de l’aménagement du Photography Centre, initié en 2018.
Pas moins de sept salles accueilleront alors le fonds photographique (présent et à venir) du musée constitué dès son ouverture en 1852.
Not only exhibitions
Mais il ne s’agit pas là uniquement de montrer des images. Il s’agit de repenser le concept de la photographie et observer ce qu’est la photographie aujourd’hui. Ainsi dans deux des nouvelles salles, la photographie contemporaine sera questionnée via des expositions ambitieuses repoussant les limites de l’idée de photographie. Le livre également, comme médium privilégié, aura droit également à son espace. Tout comme les usages que le numérique a su imposer à tous…
L’ouverture sera l’occasion d’exposer de nouvelles acquisitions comme les images de Liz Johnson Artur, Sammy Baloji, Vera Lutter, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Tarrah Krajnak et Vasantha Yogananthan… Que du bon et du rafraichissant dans la photographie d’aujourd’hui. Une monumentale sculpture photographique signée Noémie Goudal sera aussi visible pour l’inauguration.

With the unveiling of the newly refurbished Photography Centre next spring, London’s Victoria and Albert Museum will be offering photography lovers a unique collection that will be freely accessible to the public
As if it were necessary, here is one more reason to go to London in the first days of spring. The famous and majestic museum on Cromwell Road in London will unveil the final phase of the Photography Centre, which was launched in 2018.
No less than seven rooms will then house the museum’s photographic collection, which has been on display since it opened in 1852.
Not only exhibitions
But this is not just about showing images. It is about rethinking the concept of photography and observing what photography is today. In two of the new rooms, contemporary photography will be questioned through ambitious exhibitions that push the boundaries of the idea of photography. The book, as a privileged medium, will also have its own space. Just like the uses that digital technology has imposed on everyone…
The opening will be an opportunity to exhibit new acquisitions such as images by Liz Johnson Artur, Liz Johnson Artur, Sammy Baloji, Vera Lutter, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Tarrah Krajnak and Vasantha Yogananthan… Nothing but good in today’s photography. A monumental photographic sculpture by Noémie Goudal will also be on view for the opening.
